Hall Road Rangers 2, Thackley 3: A second hat-trick of the season for Andy Patterson took the young striker into double figures for this campaign and eased Thackley through to the last eight of the Northern Counties East President's Cup.
First Division Hall Road refused to lie down after Thackley opened up a 2-0 lead just after the break and made it a nervous evening for their Premier Division visitors by forcing the tie into extra-time.
Defensive errors almost proved the downfall of Thackley but in the final analysis their strong attacking display was too much for the Hull side and quality prevailed.
Patterson netted his first in the 25th minute when he met Dave Nelson's free-kick from the left flank with a glancing header. Two minutes into the second half he controlled a good cross from Dave Armitage to net a low shot.
The home side rallied and Thackley keeper Aaron Brian made a good double save in the 67th minute but Phil Cutler was on hand to snap up the final rebound. Colin Dickson levelled the match six minutes later with a low drive.
Thackley were awarded a free -kick ten minutes into the first period of extra-time and Patterson claimed his treble to send his side back to Bradford celebrating a victory.
