TWO detectives from Skipton have been commended for their part in catching and convicting a team of robbers.
Martyn Woodley and Steve Menzies were part of a 10-strong team tasked with finding the criminals responsible for a series of bank, building society, post office and supermarket robberies across Yorkshire.
One was at Cross Hills Post Office.
In all the inquiry investigated 32 robberies in which more than £1 million was stolen. As a result nine men were sentenced to a total of 100 years imprisonment.
DC Woodley and DC Menzies were given a Divisional Commander's Commendation by Chief Supt Andrew Rennison at a special presentation in Leeds.
DC Menzies said: "It's very rare for North Yorkshire to have such a series of violent robberies like this. It's good that we could play such an active part in the arrest of the offenders."
