Silsden Ladies continued their great start to the season with a 9-0 victory over Farsley Celtic Ladies in the new West Riding County Womens League.
The home team dominated the first half creating chance after chance and took their goals well. Farsley managed just one shot in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, playing up the hill, the Silsden defence had a bit more work to do. Farsley created a couple of chances, but the strength of the Silsden team told, andthey kept real chances to a minimum. Kristie Reynolds made a great save with the tip of her toe midway through the half.
Goals came from Emma Layton (3), Vicki Ellis (2), Joanne Vasey (2), Claire Hodgson and Eddi Smith.
Silsden will attempt to maintain their 100% league record on Sunday with a home fixture against Thomas Danby College (Kick-off 2pm).
n Keighley Ladies took revenge on Barnsley for their two cup defeats last season.
They secured a 1-0 League Cup victory over the South Yorkshire team with 14-year-old Becky Granger stepping into the side and slotting the vital winner late in the game.
Frances Nichol came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half with a long range shot which beat the keeper but hit the underside of the bar and bounced down onto the line before being scrambled clear by the Barnsley defence.
Clair Atkinson was having a superb gamein goal for Keighley supported by a rock solid defensive wall. A free kick by Michelle Harrison flew just wide.
As the game went into its later stages both teams increased the tempo, but the vital goal came after a pass from Lindsay Munro was met by Granger who slotted home.
The team is at home again on Sunday, when they face Ossett Albion in the County Cup (ko2pm).
The Under-17s are away to Farsley Celtic.
