Coach Brian Noble has named the same starting line-up that beat Leeds Rhinos to take the Bulls to the Grand Final, but whether that team will actually take the field is anybody's guess.
Noble said: "They played pretty well that first half. The 17 that performed against Leeds last time were good. They were physically dominant and they were tactically astute. They implemented what we were trying to do, so the nucleus of the team has to be the same."
Noble has named a six-man bench, of which the only certainties for inclusion are Paul Anderson and Leon Pryce.
Despite the positive statements coming out of the Bulls camp earlier in the week, it is still unclear whether Noble will risk the talismanic Paul in the one-off match, or take the conservative route and set him aside until next season.
Paul spent much of Thursday's training session working out of dummy half. Asked if anything could be read into that, Noble said: "He also ran at six and seven and one, so you can read anything you want into it. The players will know first who is on the bench."
If Paul is overlooked, it is unlikely Noble will tinker with the squad that did the job against Leeds.
If Noble does take a punt on Paul, it raises the question of who to leave out to accommodate him.
Paul and Pryce both cover stand-off and full back and, with Michael Withers also able to cover both positions, carrying both on the bench would be a luxury.
One option would be to start Pryce at stand-off and to drop Karl Pratt from the squad. Such a decision would be harsh on Pratt and Noble is a fan of Pratt's solidity during the frantic early stages of a match.
With Noble most likely to go for a three forward and one back split, another possibility is that Paul could be used in the pack in the latter stages and as cover for James Lowes and Mike Forshaw. Paul has played hooker for New Zealand and has the athletic ability to defend from lock and then control the game with long, raking passes from dummy-half.
With Rob Parker unlikely to force his way into the squad after being left out against Leeds, Lee Gilmour and Lee Radford are likely to contest the remaining spot on the bench should Paul be selected.
With not much to choose between the two second-rowers, Gilmour's unveiling last week as one of St Helens' new signings could see the scales tipped in Radford's favour.
Meanwhile, Gregory has named the same squad that squeaked past Leeds in the Grand Final eliminator.
Noble is suspicious that half back Adrian Lam may still play a part in the match, despite Gregory categorically ruling him out on Monday.
Skipper Andrew Farrell, who is carrying a knee injury that requires an operation, has said he expects to play for the full 80 minutes.
Wigan are set to play in their black strip and the Bulls, as top qualifiers, have been allocated the home dressing room.
