This has been a big week for Bradford - a week in which the much-awaited blueprint for the future of the city centre was published, presenting the citizens with a bold new vision to inspire and encourage.
The imaginative scheme has set people talking and, rather unusually given the traditional Bradford predisposition to scepticism, much of the talk has been positive. It is as if the sheer audacity of the plan has forced them to look on it as a challenge for the city and to think to themselves, "Well why not?"
The same question might well be asked as the week ends with Bradford Bulls taking on the Wigan Warriors at Old Trafford this evening in the Super League Grand Final.
The Bulls are one of Bradford's great assets. Time and again they have given us something to cheer about. They have demonstrated the value of true sportsmanship. They have created an environment at Odsal in which families can feel safe. They reach out into the community, putting something back for the support that Bradford has given them.
Above all, perhaps, they have linked the name of this city with success and provided a much-needed boost in those periods when there has not seemed to be much else to feel proud about.
They go into the Grand Final looking to make a domestic clean sweep after winning the Rugby League Challenge Cup and the Minor Premiership. It won't be a walkover. Wigan are presently on a roll, being unbeaten in their last 11 games.
But the Bulls, too, are on fine form. And with Bradford in its present mood....well why not?
