A bitter attack on the conditions under which West Yorkshire's policemen are having to work has been launched by the county's Chief Constable, Mr. Ronald Gregory. He has put forward a blacklist of ten buildings which need replacing urgently. The list includes three in Bradford - Toller Lane, Laisterdyke and Odsal - and the force headquarters at Wakefield. Now the County Council is to approach the Home Office with a request for extra cash to solve the problem.

From Field Marshal Earl Alexander and Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery came messages to Eccleshill Congregational Church, Bradford, at what is thought to be the first El Alamein memorial service in the country. It was the idea of the Rev. John Harwood, minister at the church, who was a tank driver with the Eighth Army in the desert war.
