Alliance Division One leaders Ring O'Bells pulled off the result of the day in the second round of the Senior Cup when they knocked out holders Fairweather Green after extra time and penalties.
Fairweather led through Adie Howard in the opening minutes but couldn't shake off their dogged opponents who defended well throughout and battled for every ball.
Keeper Paul Morris was their late hero. He was faultless as Fairweather turned on the extra-time pressure and when the penalties came round he not only saved three in succession but also scored from the spot himself.
An injury to their keeper played a part in Buttershaw White Star's 4-3 home defeat to Queensbridge, and East Ward made their third successive cup exit at Bolton Woods where Devon Miller and Paul Sharpe scored two apiece.
There was a keenly fought tie at Idle where visitors Waggoners booked a third- round spot against Oakenshaw with two goals late in the game through Carl Yewdall and an own goal.
Sixteen-year-old Mark Price, playing his first full game for East Bowling Unity, laid on the opener for Micky Nunn against Queensbury. Roger Eli equalised in the last quarter, however, and Unity nicked the tie when Tariq Hussain's last minute free- kick bounced over the Queensbury keeper.
Having a bad time in Division One, winless Queensbury Reserves overcame Fair-weather Green Junction. Paul Saville twice had Junction in front before Queensbury levelled and with Steve Mason outstanding up front they converted all their penalties to go into the next round.
Another club to show up well against Premier opposition were Woodman Rovers against Crown. A goal down straight from the kick-off Woodman equalised through John Brannan and after Crown had gone in front again it was Devon Warner who grabbed a second equaliser. With extra time looming Crown's Cameron Nelson scored from a late corner to spare their blushes.
For a time it looked as if Clayton Orient might pull off another giant-killing feat when they led last year's treble winners Albion Sports 3-2 with goals from Paul Cuthbertson (2) and Martin Naylor at the break. Clayton ran out of steam, however, in the last 20 minutes as strong-finishing Albion won 6-3.
In a game switched to Westwood, Stanley Road repeated their earlier 5-0 league win over their fellow Division One opponents, Danny Shaw collecting another hat-trick.
Wing back Joe Bairstow showed his forwards how to do it by scoring twice in the first half for Queens Athletic in their 3-1 win over Nags, but Royal Clayton - who conceded a goal after five seconds - went down 8-2 to Holme Wood Athletic.
In a game marred by a broken leg suffered by Calverley Victoria's Sean Greaves, Victoria's second-half performance saw them eclipse Chellow 3-1.
Chellow's enterprising first-half play saw them lead through Mark Hodgson only for Sam Appleby to level matters a minute before half-time.
Calverley went on to settle the game in the last 20 minutes with goals from Darren Smith, and Ben Greaves.
