A speeding charge against a Bradford area ambulance driver has been formally withdrawn in court.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) discontinued the case against Mike Ferguson because they said it was "not in the public interest".
Mr Ferguson, 56, was due to stand trial at Grantham magistrates' court yesterday over allegations that he was caught by police travelling at 104mph on the A1 in Lincolnshire while delivering a liver for a transplant patient.
But as previously reported it was announced that the charges were being dropped and Mr Ferguson, of Birkenshaw, would not face court proceedings.
After the hearing Chief Crown Prosecutor for Lincolnshire, Alison Kerr, said: "There is no dispute over the fact that Mr Ferguson broke the law when he exceeded the speed limit, which he himself admitted doing.
"Having looked at the facts, the CPS believed it was not a medical emergency and that Mr Ferguson had enough time in which to deliver the organ while keeping to the speed limit.
"As a result of further inquiries by the police last week it emerged that Mr Ferguson may not have been made aware of the exact amount of time he had in which to deliver the organ. In the light of this, we have decided it is no longer in the public interest to continue with this case."
Mr Ferguson, who did not attend court yesterday said: "I am just glad it is all officially over now but in reality, our campaigning is just beginning."
He said Spen MP Mike Wood was due to meet the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire police next week to look at getting the law reviewed.
