Organisers behind a cancelled charity walk on Bingley's relief road are planning an alternative money-spinner.
Bingley and Airedale Rotary Club, one of the main organisers, had hoped to raise about £30,000 at the two-day festival which was scrapped after a year's planning by construction company Amec, which said it feared demonstrations by anti-road campaigners.
But today Gordon Hodgson, chairman of the club's community service committee, said they were organising a charity concert. And the world-famous Black Dyke Band is already on the bill for the event at Bradford Grammar School on Saturday, November 22, at 7.30pm.
The group hopes to raise about £4,000 for the Alzheimer's Society Bradford branch and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Tickets costing £9 are on sale at Taber Travel, Bingley Road, Saltaire; Roy Copley Opticians, Northgate, Baildon; and Robert Carter Travel, Queens Court, Bingley.
