Bradford's huge celebrity Jack Taylor remained in hospital today after breaking his leg in a fall at home.
The Telegraph & Argus reported yesterday how ten firefighters used a huge piece of sheeting to lift the 58-year-old, who estimates he weighs 50 stones, into an ambulance after the accident at his Manningham home at 2am.
Mr Taylor was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary with a broken left femur. Fire crews had to help lift him into a specially ordered bed, and a hospital spokesman said he was in a stable condition.
His best friend Doris Khan, 63, who visits him every other day, said she was shocked to hear of his fall.
"That's the second fall he's had this year and it's very upsetting," she said. Mr Taylor shot to fame three years ago after the T&A revealed the bachelor had not left his home for 25 years.
Mrs Khan said she did Mr Taylor's shopping for him every week.
She went to visit him yesterday with friend Christine Bradbent, 59, who said she regularly did his ironing.
"Last week I dyed him a vest red and he was delighted," she said.
