Festive revellers can take it n-ice and easy this Christmas when Centenary Square is transformed into an outdoor ice rink.
Bradford Council has booked a rink for this year's celebrations after the success of the attraction two years ago and last year's Winter Wonderland snow tube and slope.
But unlike the rink of Christmas Past, which was made of plastic ice, this year's crowd-puller will consist of a real ice bed.
The 400-metre square rink can hold up to 100 people and will open every day except Christmas Day and New Year's Day from November 20 until January 4.
Special sessions for schoolchildren are planned with a qualified coach, where youngsters can earn an Ice Skating Association certificate for an Introduction to Safe Skating. Young skaters can put the skills they learn into practice with a stint on the ice followed by hot chocolate and cookies.
Bradford Council leader Councillor Margaret Eaton said: "Christmas is a fun time for families and it is nice to have something they can come and enjoy in the centre of Bradford. It will bring people into the shops and people will also be able to see what else is on offer in the centre."
The Bradford attraction, run by Aria Ice Ltd, is one of 12 rinks across the country.
Aria Ice Ltd managing director Vince Eckerman said: "All of the ice rinks have the potential to become annual events dependent upon their financial sustainability and public popularity.
"Thus, income to the ice rinks will be used to deliver the projects and all profits generated will be ring-fenced for return next year."
The rink will cost Bradford Council £84,000 with a guaranteed income from Aria of £34,000. An Aria Ice Ltd spokesman said: "Working in association with public and private sector partners in many town and city centres, the ice rinks will be great festive attractions.
"The rinks also provide the perfect opportunity for companies wishing to strengthen their profile to get involved with sponsorship and advertising."
City Hall is gearing up for the festive celebrations and is expected to announce who will switch on this year's Christmas lights later this week.
