Hallam 1, Eccleshill United 3: Eccleshill United leap-frogged fifth-placed Hallam with a fine win at the Sheffield club's Sandygate Road ground to take them through the 20-point barrier in the Northern Counties East Premier Division.
The Bradford side were looking for an improvement after being held to a home draw by struggling Borrowash Victoria at the weekend and they found a perfect answer to their critics.
The win prevented Hallam from gaining a double after their 5-1 victory at Plumpton Park earlier in the season.
"It was well deserved and sweet revenge," said United boss Tony Brown.
"We should have been three up before we scored because all the openings in the first half were created by us."
Scott Price notched the first in the 33rd minute and that remained the only strike of the first period. Soon after the hour striker Chris Wood added the second from close range to effectively end the contest. The home side's Danny Campbell was dismissed in the 75th minute.
Eccleshill switched off after that and Hallam skipper David Hawke went forward to make it 2-1. United were undaunted and their defender Paul Gelder was sent up for a free-kick three minutes from time and netted a superb volley.
