Teenage musicians Sarah Little and Edward Howarth struck the right note when they took their piano exams.
The pupils, who both study with the same teacher, won prestigious awards from the Associated Board of the royal Schools of Music, after each earning the highest marks scored at their own particular level.
Edward, 15, of Burley in Wharfedale, won the Ada Ingham Prize for scoring the highest distinction marks in Grade 6 during theprevious 12 months at the Bradford Examination centre area.
Sarah, 17, of Ilkley, has been awarded the Irene Martin Prize after achieving the highest marks in Grade 7 or 8 also during the lastyear at the same centre.
Edward, who goes to Leeds Grammar School, and Sarah, a student at Ilkley Grammar School, are both pupils of Ilkley piano and woodwind teacher Hazel Jamieson.
Mrs Jamieson said it was rare for a teacher to have one pupil who won an award, let alone two.
"It was quite startling. They are both delighted and couldn't believe it. We have had high scorers before but no-one has ever won anaward," she said..
"They have both put in a lot of time and it is their principle interest."
Sarah, who has been having lessons since she was about nine, is also a talented violinist and is hoping to study physics at Oxford.
Edward has been a pupil with Mrs Jamieson since he was about eight.
