Menston should take a step closer to gaining a valuable tool against over development next week.
A document from Bradford Council detailing a proposed Conservation Area will be sent out to all householders who would be affected, and their neighbours, on Friday, October 31.
That report, which will also be available in the village library, will form the basis for a consultation workshop at the Methodist Church Hall on November 19.
The proposed area was drawn up by the local authority after examining the ideas contained in the draft Menston Village Design Statement, but is considerably smaller than the original plans.
Menston Community Association (MCA) Secretary Julia Bateson said it was important that anyone with concerns either about the boundaries of the area, or what it could mean for them, should attend.
She said: "The consultation is to tell the people who will live within the conservation area what it will entail for them in terms of what they'll be allowed to do to their homes, and so on - to let them know what they're getting into, basically!
"Anyone living in this area, or anyone whose home was included in the original proposals and thinks it still should be, should come and have their say.
"We are currently working to get supplementary planning guidance status for our village design statement, which will mean planners will have to consider its points when making a decision.
"Having a conservation area as part of that, as a technical entity, will provide even more rigorous planning guidance."
No time has been fixed for the consultation meeting yet, but it will be in the evening and MCA have pledged to organise a second event if demand for this one is high.
