The "organ they love to hate" is in the news again.The century-old monster in St. George's Hall, Bradford, is once more on the carpet - and so are the Council officials who should keep it in tip-top condition. That's the view of members of Bradford's distinguished Organists' Association who are hitting out at City Hall. "It is deplorable that a city with the heritage and prestige of Bradford should not allow for proper maintenance of the organ," says their president, Mr John Hammond.

A £23,000 road widening scheme in Eccleshill is proposed by the Bradford Public Works Committee's Highways and Drainage sub-committee to give better facilities for buses in the Eccleshill housing estate. It is proposed to adopt schemes for the widening of Victoria Road to 21ft. - between Westgate and Hall Road - at an estimated cost of £580, and to widen Victoria Road between Stoney Lane and King Street and the bank at an estimated cost of £22,363.
