Milkman Tony Ingham has found his ideal maid -- after proposing to her through the Keighley News.
Tony, 62, popped the question by placing a notice in last week's personal announcements section of the newspaper.
Tony said: "I thought it was something different and it was cheaper than buying an engagement ring!"
His girlfriend of 65-weeks, Hazel Ferguson, head teacher at Laycock Primary School, was very surprised by the proposal.
The 54-year-old said: "It has caused quite a stir in the village and with colleagues at school."
The proposal message from Tony featured a picture of a donkey.
Explained Hazel:"I used to work at Glusburn Primary School and they kept two donkeys. Since then I have been known throughout the village as 'the donkey lady'."
Her full answer, which still includes the donkey and complemented by a picture of a milk bottle, is published this week.
The couple, who are both widowed and live together in Eastburn, have known each other for more than 20 years -- since Tony started as Hazel's milkman. He said: "It will be marked off in my milk money book because she owed me -- she still hasn't paid me for it."
Hazel was previously married in a register office so this time she wanted a church wedding.
The couple have invited friends and family to St Thomas's Church, in Sutton, on January 10, 2004. The service will be followed by a breakfast at Headley's Restaurant and a party at Sutton Village Hall for around 200 guests.
Tony added:"I'm beginning to see the real attraction of eloping to Gretna Green!"
