AFTER spotting a picture of themselves in the Craven Herald's weekly flashback section, ex-pupils from Sutton Community Primary School staged a reunion 43 years after the photograph was taken.
They took a trip down memory lane by paying a visit to the school which gave them their educational grounding.
The group of around 20 former classmates met on Saturday and were escorted round the school by current pupils. The visitors were especially grateful for the welcome reception they received from the headteacher, Phil Sant, members of his staff and school governors.
It was the second time in the past 12 months that the class of 1959-60 had met up. Many had not seen one another since leaving school and while some had remained local to the area, others had found a new life in Hampshire, Suffolk and even Toronto and Australia.
Those living abroad were unable to make the reunion on this occasion, but there are plans to make it a twice-yearly event.
After a look around the school, Dr John Laycock presented a shield on behalf of the class of 1959 to be presented to pupils who show outstanding achievement in any one of a wide variety of areas.
