The Lord Mayor of Bradford was presented with the first poppy to launch this year's Poppy Appeal.
Barbara Allsopp, Poppy Appeal organiser from the Bradford branch of the Royal British Legion, presented Lord Mayor Councillor Allan Hillary, pictured, with the poppy at City Hall.
He took three poppies to present to each of the political party leaders.
Coun Hillary said: "I am delighted to launch the Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion here in Bradford and feel sure that the people of the district will support it as generously as they have always done."
The Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal is held to raise money to help support former servicemen and their families.
Last year's South and West Yorkshire Poppy Appeal raised £758,055 and helped 700 people across the counties. More than £21 million was raised nationally.
