Very shortly the small band of wardens who patrol the open countryside in the Bradford Metropolitan area will have the support of an expanding number of enthusiastic volunteers, and within a matter of weeks will have radio communication. The countryside warden lapel badge will soon become more familiar, the countryside officer, M. L. Morgan, told Baildon Civic Society members.

The idea of masks for the nose and mouth as a protection against breathing in fog was welcomed today by Bradford's Medical Officer of Health. But the masks need not necessarily be made of gauze. "A wool scarf will act just as well as a gauze mask, and chiffon would be all right. Various types of material will do, depending on the texture. (After a London fog in December 1952, 4,000 deaths were attributed to it.)
