A builder who was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Heckmondwike is still in hospital.
Jason Richardson, who works for Younger Homes (Northern) Ltd in Brighouse, is described by police as being "poorly but stable" following the accident at 11.10pm on Sunday, October 12.
The accident happened in Walkley Lane, Heckmondwike, near the Heckmondwike side of the junction with Keats Drive and Heckmondwike Road.
According to police, a silver Vauxhall Vectra travelling towards Dewsbury collided with the 28-year-old as it overtook a taxi. Mr Richardson had just got out of a taxi and was crossing the road to his home in Walkley Lane when the accident happened. The Vectra driver stopped and remained at the scene. As he was going to give assistance to Mr Richardson, who was in the middle of the road, was hit by another vehicle - thought to be a white Vauxhall Astra estate car or van - travelling towards Heckmondwike centre. It failed to stop at the scene.
Police are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the white car to contact them.
Mr Richardson, who suffered a broken pelvis and two broken ribs and was knocked unconscious, was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital.
He has undergone two operations since the accident.
