Bradford Park Avenue have been given the go-ahead to play their FA Cup tie against Second Division Bristol City at Horsfall Stadium on Sunday, November 9 - and now club officials are urging the city to get behind their bid for giant-killing glory.

Avenue officials met with police, fire, ambulance and council safety officers yesterday.

Tickets go on sale inside the ground at Saturday's league game against Vauxhall Motors.

Commercial director Paul Grayson said: "If people want to watch Avenue in the FA cup, why shouldn't they come to watch us in the league as well?"

Avenue are hoping for a sell-out on November 9.

"Surely there are 3,000 people in Bradford who will want to come to the game?" said Grayson.

"We are licensed for 3,300 people but the safety officers may yet impose a lower limit because of segregation.

"Bristol City took along 370 fans to see the match at Harrogate last season so we would be expecting a similar number from the West Country."

The match couldn't be played on the Saturday because City are at home and the police didn't want the matches to clash. There will be a 1pm kick-off on the Sunday.

Horsfall Stadium can seat 1,250 people with the rest standing on terraces.

Some necessary repair work needs to be carried out before the FA Cup game.

"I would hope quite a number of people will come to the league game on Saturday, watch us in action and buy a cup ticket," said Grayson.

Avenue are disappointed that Sky did not select the match for live coverage. But even so, directors have thrown out the idea of moving it to either Bradford City's Bradford & Bingley Stadium or Odsal, home of the Bradford Bulls.

A fee would have been involved and there is no guarantee that more than 3,000 fans would turn up anyway.

Manager Trevor Storton said: "The Horsfall surface has been playing really well over the last few weeks. There are no problems there.

"But I would not imagine that Bristol City will relish coming here. My lads are certainly up for the game."

Bristol City's official website claimed the club would have raked in £100,000 from a televised tie, while Avenue claim the figure would have been nearer £60,000 per club - not including gate receipts.

After Saturday, tickets will be on sale at Avenue's social club at the stadium.

Postal applications can be made to Paul Grayson, 52 Fairburn Drive, Garforth, Leeds LS25 2AP.

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children.
