Girls from Bronte House School - prep school to Woodhouse Grove - did not have to travel far to achieve a long-awaited victory in the annual Headmas-ters' Conference
(HMC) under-11 tournament.
The tournament, which is always hosted by Bronte House, was held at their senior school, Woodhouse Grove.
It involved eight schools from throughout the north, and was last won by Bronte House in 1998.
Bronte got off to an excellent start, winning their first match against Silcoates 8-0, and they triumphed in six of their seven games overall, losing only to St Olaves 1-0, who went on to take second place.
Paula Stega, coach to the Bronte under-11s, said: "It is a wonderful achievement which reflects the commitment and effort of all involved."
Parkside Secondary School in Cullingworth have had three of their pupils chosen for West Yorkshire squads.
Tessa Mayo and Lucy Mayho have both been selected for the under-16s, while Alex Tidswell has been picked for the under-14s after extensive county trials.
