Three medical staff questioned over the death of coma mum Teresa Innes are still working at Bradford hospitals, it has been revealed.
Police yesterday said a case against the three, along with a fourth member of staff, had been referred to the Crown Prosecution Service by detectives investigating the death of the 38-year-old.
They could face manslaughter charges.
Teresa suffered a heart attack and fell into a coma in 2001 after being given penicillin at Bradford Royal Infirmary, despite being acutely allergic to the drug.
She died without regaining consciousness in August.
A spokesman for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said its procedures had been reviewed and tightened up since 2001.
He said: "These new ways of working are designed to reduce to a minimum the possibility of a similar incident happening. Of the four trust staff referred to in the police statement, three are currently working at the trust and have not been suspended.
"The trust is satisfied that it is safe for them to continue to work with patients within the new policies and procedures referred to. The fourth is on long term leave unrelated to the incident."
