A science lecture was music to the ears of pupils at South Craven School.
Year nine pupils were visited by freelance company Science made Simple as part of a lecture organised by the science organisation The Royal Institution of Great Britain.
Musicians Wendy Sadler and Edward Gomez gave the hour-long demonstration lecture, which looked at the basics of sound and audio presentations.
Students at the Cross Hills school, who took part in the lecture by singing and playing different musical instruments, investigated the pitch and amplification of notes, as well as musical waves.
They also looked at the latest music technology, including how to change the music once it is turned into an electronic signal and how to store sound waves digitally.
Wendy said: "It is just something to try to get them excited about science. Music is a good way of doing that because most people are interested in music.
"We got lots of volunteers up so it was not so much a lecture but more like a show."
The lecture, which was organised as part of the schools technology and engineering college status, aimed to enrich the science curriculum at the school.
