A GRADE II listed bridge in Skipton is to undergo major repairs after it failed a strength test for modern traffic.
The majority of the work to the stone arch bridge which carries Mill Bridge road over Springs Canal will be done from underneath to avoid the need to close the road. Cracks in the arch will be repaired with stainless steel anchors drilled into the stonework.
The work is due to start next week and should be completed in a month. The canal will be closed to boats but pedestrians will still have access to the towpath.
