SIXTY TWO juniors took on the Challenging Quarry run courses with just about every age group winner setting anew course record in perfect conditions.

Silsden's Thomas Sessford, (pictured) an Under-123 runner, beat Under-14 Philip Bolton in 6:32 which gives Thomas not only the Under-12s record, but the Under-14s as well. James Hall of Bingley won the Under-8s race in another record time.

The 162 senior runners were set off by Under-8 girls winner Emily Middlesborough as they headed out on the run around Oxenhope Stoop, Top Withins, Bronte Bridge and Bronte Waterfalls.

The winner was 26-year-old solicitor Matt Barnes of Altrincham who recently moved into the area. He is a GB Modern Pentathlete and 1500m northern track champion, easily beating Phil Sheard and Jorge Thomas.

Sheard led Pudsey and Bramley to the team 'chocolate' awards.

dark Peaks Jo Smith, 27, a Doctor at Airedale Hospital won from Karen Slater in the women's race. Smith won by 14 seconds with last year's winner, Venessa Peacock, in third place.
