Keighley Albion 42 Birkenshaw 20 - Albion have been rewarded with a home tie against top leeds side Queens after reachign the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Cup.
Steve Wrench stolled through the defence after only 51 seconds and Keith Dixon added the conversion. Dixon also supplied the pass which put Rob Haughey clear for the second try.
Birkenshaw replied with a converted try, but the Keighley side had no intention of letting the game slip away and James Feather dived over from acting half which Dixon converted.
A forward pass was ignored by the referee as Birkenshaw kept themselves firmly in the game, but Kirk dummied his way over and Dixon converted to give Albion a 22-10 lead at half time.
Simon Marsden forced his way over five minutes into the second half and Gary Boocock (pictured) added a converted try minutes later to ensure there was no way back for the visitors.
Rob Haughey scored his second try, but the score of the game came from man of the match Dixon who scored from 30m out and added the final conversion.
Tomorrow Albion are away to Dudley Hill Eagles in the Pennine Knockout Cup (ko 2pm) and the second team are away at Drighlington A.
Keighley Town 28
West Bowling 20
Keighley Town put in a top class first half performance against West Bowling to take a 24-6 lead.
Town's forwards were a formidable force and great running by second rowers Carlton Farrell and Tom Palmer got Town half way inside Bowling's half. Their first try came from a scrum 15 yards out. Stand off Darren McNulty switched play down blind side, before passing to winger Jason Barnes who scored, and convertedhis own try.
Darren McNulty had a hand in Town's next two tries, going on a 30yard run before slipping the ball to his older brother Rocky McNulty who scored under the posts. Barnes tagged on the two points putting Town 12-0 up.
The first half didn't go all Keighley's way. West Bowling had a good ten-minute spell where they scored to make the score12-6.
Bruising tackles from Craig Morphet, Chris Ellison and hooker Quinton Sneyd helped set up Town's third try when Darren McNulty squeezed through half a gap and raced 35-yards to score. Barnes again added the two points and kicked a penalty two minutes later to make it 20-6.
Centre Rob Spencer who stretched out to plant the ball down on the line while being tackled ro make it 24-6 at the break.
The second half should have seen Town finish West Bowling off but it they hit back with two tries, one converted.
Slowly Town started to get back into the game but with ten minutes to go West Bowling scored again to give Town a nervous late period. Keighley sealed victory with a try just before the final whistle with Rob Spencer going over in the corner.
Silsden Park Rangers 14
Victoria Vikings 35
Silsden entertained Divison Two leaders Victoria Vikings and started well before the Vikings opened the scoring with a drop goal.
They followed up with the try of the game under the posts. Silsden replied with a penalty from Andy Bowness and they found some rhythm and only the Vikings' strong defence kept them out. Strong drives from Silsden's man of the match Martyn Fryers and Ed Billings forged Rangers deep into the Vikings 22, and finally Vikings conceded a penalty.
Instead of going for a try they went for a penalty and missed from the restart the Vikings scored a converted try and a penalty goal to take a 15-2 lead at the break.
After conceding another converted try Rangers finally scored following a great drive from Ed Billings. Bowness converted to give Silsden some hope at 21-8. Ill discipline from both sides resulted in a player from both sides in the sin-bin and Silsden were reduced to 11 when Chris Langdale was harshly dismissed for a high tackle.
Vikings scored a converted try before Silsden were came back with a try from captain Neil Jordan and Bowness converted. Vikings had the last say with a penalty and a converted try to keep their 100 per cent record.
Silsden are at home to Premier League side Birkenshaw in the Pennine President's Cup on Saturday. Kick-off 2.00pm at Silsden Park.
Cowling 12
West Craven 20
An early return match with West Craven promised was a real thriller. Cowling had another slow start gifting West Craven several penalties in the first fifteen minutes which led to an early eight-point lead. Darren Greenwood pulled off a spectacular effort which put Cowling on the scoreboard but Craven immediately charged over with a hotly disputed try to secure a 14-4 lead at half time.
Chris Armitage opened the second half with a cracking try in the corner again answered immediately with a West Craven response. The Harlequins pounded West Craven's defence for the next 20 minutes and were finally rewarded with a brilliant try from Ben Bibby.
Both sides scored three tries but the kicking was the difference. Craig Verity was man of the match.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Cowling are at home to Greetland "A".
