Silsden travelled to Ovenden W.R. for their Premier Division Cup clash and came away 2-1 winners.

Straight from the kick off Silsden pressurised the Ovenden defence and, on an uneven and bumpy pitch, played some neat football.

After Finn was brought down, the resulting free kick from Rosser fell to Furness who shot over. However with six minutes gone Silsden won a corner and from Rhodes' long cross, Martin Bland headed back onto the edge of the six-yard box where Peter Hanson scored with a half volley into the roof of the net.

Silsden continued to domintate but could not get the elusive second goal. Shots from both Finn and Furness went wide and, after an interchange of passes between the Bland twins and Spencer, Finn shot over the bar.

With half-time approaching, Ovenden were awarded a free kick well outside the penalty area and Megson floated the ball over everyone into the net.

This stung Silsden into action and they went ahead again within two minutes when Spencer found Hedges out wide and he beat the full back to send a left foot cross across the goal which Matthew Bland, at the far post, tucked away.

The second half carried on where the first half had ended, with Silsden continuing to press forward to try and clinch the game.

Jimmy Spencer broke through but his chip landed in the keeper's arms. Hedges had his shot kicked off the line after beating the goalkeeper and, after a sweeping move from their own half, a cross from Hanson was headed over by Martin Bland. Furness had a header from Schofield's cross saved and first Rosser, then Hedges, had shots saved by the keeper.

Although Ovenden pushed forward for an equaliser, they rarely threatened the Silsden defence and, in the end, Silsden ran out comfortable winners.
