Former Bradford Park Avenue and Manchester United star Johnny Downie is urging Trevor Storton's battlers to go all out for a win on Sunday.
The 78-year-old, who played for Avenue in the 1948 FA Cup fourth-round tie against Manchester United at Maine Road in front of 83,000 fans, has already got his ticket for Sunday's first-round clash between Avenue and Second Division Bristol City at Horsfall Stadium.
"My message to the players is try to win the match - but enjoy the moment. Maybe a draw would be the best result with an away tie at Bristol in front of a good crowd.
"But the only chance is to go at them and try to win. If they play defensively, they are never going to score and Bristol will be all over them. A draw obviously would be a fantastic result.
"When I played in that match at Maine Road in 1948, I missed a sitter in the last minute and we drew 1-1. When I came off, the manager said well done. I told him I had just missed a sitter and he said a replay was a better result.
"We drew 1-1 again and then lost the second replay 5-0."
Downie, who was later transferred from Avenue to Manchester United for £18,000, said: "Avenue has been a wonderful club - it was very good to me. I played with great players like Len Shackleton and Billy Elliott. We even beat Arsenal 1-0 at Highbury and we also beat Manchester City away 8-2."
