Former pupils and teachers turned out in force to say their final farewells to dedicated school head Anne Bell.
The former head of what is now Burley and Woodhead Church of England Primary School passed away peacefully at Airedale Hospital on October 20.
Her life was celebrated with a service of thanksgiving at St Mary's Parish Church, Burley in Wharfe-dale.
Mrs Bell, 76, moved to the Burley area with her husband Ray, from Caistor in North Lincolnshire in 1964.
She became one of the youngest head teachers of her time when she took over the reigns at Burley and Woodhead in the same year.
She led the school until her retirement in 1987, overseeing the move to the present site on Sandholme Drive in 1976.
Friends, family and former colleagues and pupils gathered together on October 27 to pay tribute to Mrs Bell who was known for her dedication to teacheing and for the personal interest she took in the lives of those she taught.
Daughter, and former pupil, Mrs Elaine Bean said: "Her teaching really dominated her life. She would have taught for nothing, she so loved the children and loved her job."
In her retirement Anne renewed her interest in painting and began art classes, she also enjoyed baking, letter writing and caring for their black Labrador, Meg.
As an animal lover, all proceeds from the collection at the service have been passed on to the RSPCA, any donations may be made in lieu directly to the charity.
Mrs Bell leaves her husband Ray, daughter Elaine, son Michael, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
