Witches, giant bats and even Dracula converged on Haworth at dusk on Saturday.
More than 50 residents and visitors dressed up in Hallowe'en costumes to attend a lantern-lit procession in Main Street and the churchyard.
Jacqui Purlan, chairman of Haworth Traders' Association, said: "It is the first time we've done this so we were really pleased with the response and by the crowds who came along to see it.
"We started with something small but hope it could turn into a bigger annual event."
Keighley town crier Mike Walton judged the competition for the best dressed family, which went to the Binghams, from Stanbury.
Mrs Purlan praised the "100 per cent effort" of a group of schoolchildren, who made a giant bat with broomsticks and bin bags.
The procession was part of a series of events in the village over the Hallowe'en weekend.
Shopkeepers got involved with the festivities by making life-size witches of famous celebrities, including Ozzy Osbourne, Dame Edna Everage, Margaret Thatcher and Marilyn Monroe. Others made famous witches, including those from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and The Wizard of Oz.
And Spooks shop, in Main Street, gave visitors special Hallowe'en tarot readings.
