Forensic tests were being carried out this week on a man's remains found in woods near Silsden.
They are believed to be those of an adult, aged 18 to 40.
The grim find was made in a wooded area in the hills above the town.
Police confirmed tests were taking place to try to establish the man's identity but they ruled out any suspicious circumstances.
Det Supt Allan Doherty, who is leading the investigation, said: "Further examinations will help us to narrow down his age and inquiries are on-going.
"We are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances."
He said they also needed to establish the man's identity.
Early indications put the age at between 18 and 40, he said.
