A REVISED Wharfedale team of Richard Brooke, Lee Ross and team captain Andy Blamire travelled to Castleford to play the second match in the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League.
Playing first was Richard Brooke against John Arnold. Both players shared their frames with Richard taking the first frame 67-21 and losing the second 26-59.
Andy Blamire then played Steve Clough and easily took his opening frame by 39 points to win 61-22.
The second frame was closer with both players managing to score consistently. Andy won the frame 65-49 to take Wharfedale 3-1 ahead.
The final pairing was Lee Ross and Gary Jones and in two closely contested frames Lee won 69-34 and 69-59 to give Wharfedale a 5-1 victory, thus reversing their opening result.
Castleford who finished in third in Division One last season may well be shocked at the result but when Wharfedale has the correct team formation they can win games.
The snooker team will travel to Bradford No 1 on the weekend of November 8/9.
An unchanged billiards team travelled to play their re-arranged fixture against Bradford No 2.
Steve Crosland played S Kershaw and in his game knocked in two breaks, 47 and 82 and won 200-108. Steve certainly had some run of the table in the break of 82.
Ronnie Haigh played J McRacheren and in a tight game where there were some tremendous billiards strokes, Ronnie had the advantage. Wharfedale won 200-105 to lead 4-0.
David Richardson played A Watson and lost 200-159.
Watson took an early lead which meant that David was playing catch up for the one point for aggregate that they claimed even though Wharfe-dale repeated their opening game's performance with another 5-2 victory. Aggregate score Wharfedale 559, Bradford Two, 413.
With no referee from Bradford available, Wharfe-dale's Graeme Richardson refereed the match for Bradford.
Wharfedale were due to play Bradford No 1 on the same weekend as the snooker team but this has been postponed because Wharfedale player Steve Crosland from Burley-in-Wharfedale will be representing England in the Triangular International at Glemgorley, Belfast.
The tournament is between Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and England.
Looking further down the fixture list Wharfedale are due to play Huddersfield No 2 at home on November 22/23 whilst the snooker team has a bye.
