OAKWORTH JUNIORS has been named the best Charter Standard club in the north of England.
The go-ahead club have picked up a string of awards and last year received the FA's Charter Standard Award, but this year they have gon on to reach a higher level, attaining the coveted Charter Development Award.
To get the award the club had to produce a three year development plan encompassing coaching, mini soccer, girls football, open age teams as well as child protection and anti-drug use issues.
Links were established with several primary schools with the club's coaches attending and holding coaching sessions during school holidays.
Much of the work has incolved the club's younger coaches who are studing sports subjects at school or college and are keen to become involved incoaching.
The award was presented by County football Development Officer Danny Philpott during at ceremony at the Oulton Hall Hotel - where the club picked up two further awards.
They were named County charter Standard Club of the Year and North ofEngland Club of the Year, for which they received a commemorative plaque and a gold medallion.
