Heath B 17 , Ilkley B 33
A strong performance from Ilkley saw them overcome a Heath side including five of their second team.
Tries from Chris Weatherby, Simon Ince and Steve Earnshaw, plus two conversions from Andy Matthews saw Ilkley hold a 10-19 lead at half-time.
The enterprising play from Ilkley continued in the second-half with a number of excellent handling moves and several rumbling forward drives. One such drive allowed prop Mark Walker to crash over from short range. A second try for winger Steve Earnshaw and two further conversions from Matthews saw Ilkley home.
The Third XV visit USAF Menwith Hill on Saturday.
Ilkley Blacks U-10s 0, Harrogate 3
The scoreline did not reflect Ilkley's superiority in this game. Despite dominating play for most of the match Ilkley failed to take advantage and although they had the majority of the possession they never threatened the Harrogate try line.
The Ilkley forwards again showed that they are capable of taking control of proceedings by winning virtually every scrum.
The forwards generated lots of ball for Man-of-the-Match, scrum-half Josh Whaley, who used the ball and created several chances with some intelligent play.
For the second week running Ilkley lost out as the backs failed to utilise the open space available and Harrogate, often against the run of play, took their chances when offered.
Ilkley can, however take comfort from this game, a game in which they showed what they can do but failed to capitalise on.
Ilkley Reds U-10s 1 , Harrogate 2
Ilkley Reds may have been the underdogs at the beginning of this match but they put in a credible performance.
Several players are continuing to produce improved performances as the weeks go by..
The team was lead by Man-of-the-Match Ben Iliff who epitomised the improvements made by all the Reds this season.
Despite falling behind Ilkley continued to apply pressure on the Harrogate pack with Patrick Godden gaining several yards with each attack enabling Ilkley to score a well deserved try.
