A pair of Bradford entrepreneurs are looking to muscle in on the clothing industry big boys after launching their own brand of designer wear.

Jason Megson, 27, and business partner Gareth Beckwith, 22, have set up Contour Clothing to offer a specialist fashion range for body builders and other muscular men.

It is thought to be the first firm in the UK making clothing specially for gym lovers keen to show-off their physique in smart, fashionable attire.

Former doorman Mr Megson said the idea for the clothing came from friends who were keen body builders who struggled to find garments to fit.

He said clothes either had too much excess material, were too tight, or needed accessories such as belts to make them fit.

Mr Megson, a keen bodybuilder himself, teamed up with his friend Mr Beckwith, who was experienced in the clothing and retail trade, 18 months ago.

Now - after a testing period of sourcing designers and suppliers for the new venture - the business is ready to launch. The pair, who have received help from Business Link, are currently touring gyms to encourage staff to act as agents. They have also launched a new website.

"We had to go around all the gyms that we knew and get all the lads measured up to work out average sizes because there was literally nothing out there for muscular guys," explained Mr Megson.

"We have realised that there's no point in people going to the gym and doing their best to look good and then having to put on awful clothing that doesn't fit!"

The product is to be launched at Body Active in Hall Ings, Bradford, on December 6. Professional bodybuilders Collin Wright and Paul Sutton, Mr UK Pat Warner and British Aikido champion Don Johnston will be on hand to support the launch. For more details, log onto www.contourclothing.com
