It's a favourite of the Royals and has a list of celebrity endorsements that its rivals would die for.

But even Silver Cross managing director Nick Paxton couldn't believe his good fortune when he saw one of his company's prams rolled out on a hit US television chat show.

Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow - who is expecting a baby with Coldplay singer Chris Martin - was presented with a Silver Cross pram by chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Gwyneth now joins the ranks of high-profile celebrities seen sporting the iconic prams including Madonna, Heather Mills, Catherine Zeta Jones, Victoria Beckham, Elle MacPherson, Liz Hurley and Brooke Shields.

Today Mr Paxton admitted he was "absolutely delighted" by the latest celebrity endorsement.

The presentation on the Entertainment Tonight programme originated through Silver Cross's American company Baby Inc., which put the show's producers in contact with the Skipton head office.

"This is going to have been seen by millions and millions of viewers, and the nice thing is that it was them who contacted us," said Mr Paxton. "We are just delighted that there is still this continued interest in our products, and we still have a three-month waiting list. We just can't make enough of them!"

Gwyneth, who is believed to have secretly married Coldplay singer Chris Martin, is expecting her first child and was presented with the pram when the programme was recorded last week.

As well as the £1,500 pram, she was also given baby booties and a baby hat with 'Ellen' stitched on it. Host Ellen DeGeneres suggested the traditional style pram would be ideal for hiding babies from prying paparazzi.

Mr Paxton said he hoped the exposure would help further boost sales of the prams.

The company has already expanded its manufacturing team in Bingley from 12 to 18 staff in order to maximise production, and that is expected to grow further.

"There is genuine interest in this type of pram. It is a massive success story for British industry and to see these people with prams made in Yorkshire is just fantastic," he said."

Mr Paxton said the company had also expanded its sales team in Skipton, which is now fielding enquiries from all over the world, from three to eight staff.

Silver Cross was born again in April this year after the original company, based in Guiseley and once employing more than 100 people, got into financial difficulties.
