Enquiries worth over £1.2m for capital equipment were received at the public works exhibition and congress by the Halifax Tool Co. Ltd - and some of these enquiries have already been turned into firm orders. Halifax Tool Company, who displayed their well known Halco range of rock drilling machinery hammers and drill bits used in mining and quarrying, have been showing at the public works exhibition for some years, but a company spokesman commented that the exhibition in November was their most successful so far.

The fathers of four schoolgirls who defied Halifax Juvenile Court yesterday when they did not attend the hearing of office-breaking and theft charges against their daughters, were present at the resumed sitting today. "You are not doing your job," the chairman Mr J. A. Drake told them. "When they come home from school you don't seem to take any interest in what they are doing," said Mr. Drake. "It is your duty to help them, not push them out on the streets."
