Ilkley children who have been getting their kicks by attacking moving buses appear to have moved on - to skateboarding down hills on to main roads.
Fears about the possible consequences of the new trend were raised at the latest meeting of Ilkley and District Road Safety Committee.
Chairman Reg Cranage heard that while no further incidents of bus kicking, which had been raised as a problem earlier in the year, had been recorded a new danger had come to light.
Groups of children had been spotted riding skateboards down roads leading off Valley Drive out on to the busy Leeds Road.
And committee chairman Reg Cranage said the same thing was happening in other streets in the town, including the steep hill of Wells Promenade.
He said: "The bunch of kids that had been running around kicking the buses as they pulled off haven't been seen doing that again.
"But another group seem to have tagged on to them and started up the next craze, which is running skateboards from smaller roads straight out on to the main road.
"There is quite a bit of this going on in the area and it seems very dangerous and irresponsible. Hopefully, Ilkley will have this new skateboard park they've been talking about soon which should cure the problem because they'll have somewhere to go."
Proposals to create an Ilkley skatepark on the putting green near Ilkley Swimming Pool, in Denton Road, are still being finalised.
