A programme featuring a Bradford family going head to head with a family from Wales to try to win a dream holiday for life will be shown on Saturday.

The Adamson family said they had been told not to disclose the outcome of the game show battle, which was filmed in May this year.

However, they hope people will tune in to see how they fared on the Here Comes the Sun programme hosted by Claire Sweeney.

Karen Adamson, who grew up in Brighouse but who now lives in West Bowling, entered her family for the competition without them knowing and was shocked when they were one of only 16 families picked out of 4,000 to take part.

She said: "I saw the programme on a website and thought it looked like fun and the prize - a two-week holiday in Spain for the rest of our lives - was incredible. So I sent off the application and after an audition in Leeds we got through. The family was so shocked but it turned out to be a fantastic experience.

"We were flown to Marbella in Spain for four days filming and took part in all sorts of games and silly things. It was absolutely fantastic and it was four days when we were treated like royalty and enjoyed being together having a laugh."

Karen took part with her partner Les Whitworth, her dad Terry Adamson, her mum Kath Adamson and brother Paul. Her cousin Caroline Bentley went along on stand-by in case anyone had to drop out.

The family had to take part in four games and a final showdown with the Herdman family from Powys.

"We did all sorts of games and they were great fun. It was very nerve wracking though because there was the pressure of not wanting to let the family down or look stupid on national TV.

"We enjoyed every bit of it though and it was worth it," she said.

They were competing to win a two-week holiday in a luxury penthouse in Marbella, every year for the rest of their lives.

Karen added that it had been lovely to meet Claire Sweeney. Karen said: "She was lovely to us and really sincere. It wasn't just when the cameras were rolling. We were lucky to be picked to go on it. I think the fact that my partner and me, and my mum and dad sing in an a capella quartet called Yorkshire Mixtures helped us."

The family sung together on the show and enjoy singing together as a hobby and also in pubs and clubs.

Here Comes the Sun is on at 7pm on Saturday on BBC1.
