Odsall Sebergh won the action-packed Keighley Town 'sevens' competition with a narrow victory over Encoure Security.

The organising club paid a big tribute to Keighley Cougars for allowing them to use the Cougar Park ground at short notice, helping to ensure a superb day's sport.

Odsal Sedbergh took the title with a 12-10 win over Encoure Security and there were some good performances by all the Keighley teams which took part.

Silsden Park Rangers produced an impressive performance in their opening game against Bradford side, Odsal Sedburgh 'A'. Danny Horne opened their account with a 70-yard try and also converted.

Their second try involved almost the whole team with Mark Ives passing out to Andy Bowness who quickly fed his brother Matt. He kept the ball alive by spinning it onto Matt Horne who sent the ball out to Danny to score again. Matt Bowness converted the try which took Silsden into half time with a healthy 12-0 lead.

Odsal came out with all guns blazing and quickly scored a couple of tries to level the scores.

It was to stay that way until the last minute when Chris Sutcliffe was tackled 10-yards short, but slipped the ball to Alan Preston who was perfectly placed to clinch the game. Bowness again converted the try to give Silsden an 18-12 victory.

The run of good form was not to last when Silsden came up against Castleford side. Highlight of the game saw Danny Horne scrape in under the posts with Bowness converting but Silsden never looked like matching the three converted tries of Kippax.

Silsden Park Rangers are now in pre-season training throughout the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Silsden Park at 7.00 under coach John Gwilliam.
