David Cadwallader won the Ogden handicap Trophy in fine style last weekend.
The Sutton bowler recorded a 21-14 victory over Sean Brennan of the Craven club on his home green. The competition was sponsored by Mr and Mrs Dowgill and was played in excellent conditions, losing semi-finalists were Pauline Lightowler and Keith Ridding.
Pauline returns to the fray on Sunday in the popular Valley Handicap at Oakworth where she defends the title she won last season. The event is sponsored by Hamnet Transport and starts at 9.30am.

The Skipton Merit Finals are also on Sunday at Broughton Road, Starting at 1.30. Eight finalists got to post in an open contest with Keighley's David Jacques the favourite.
The Cookson Cup knockout semi-finals take place on Monday at 7pm and feature two contrasting matches between Keighley A and Cononley A to be held at Silsden PF, and Steeton A and Sutton C at Silsden Bowling Club. Close games are expected with Cononley and Sutton narrow favourites to make it through to the final.
In a busy weekend the Yorkshire Parks Brotherton Cup finals are also to be held on Sunday in the Bradford area with Cross Roads A having reached the last eight. They meet old rivals Myrtle Park at Knowle Park in Round One and it is difficult to see anyone beating them.
Keighley A now hold a lead of almost 30 points in Division One of the Skipton League with only six games to go. Five points cover the next three teams, Silsden A, Silsden PF A and Cononley A.
It is also tight at the bottom with four points separating the bottom three teams, Silsden B, Silsden PF B and Lund A, of which two will go down.
In Division Two Broguhton Road B are the new leaders over a faltering Addingham A, but just by one point. Haworth and Oakworth remain third and fourth awaiting any slip-up buy the leaders. Lund B and Cross Hills B look set to be relegated.
Settle B head Division Three seven points ahead of Silsden PF C in a two horse race for the title.
The Skipton District team continues its meteoric rise to fame with a 14-7 victory over Halifax who are former winners of the inter-district competition. They shared four winners away at West End only to loose narrowly overall, but were easy winners in the home leg at Cononley where they suffered just one reverse.
The team was in fine form, especially Phillip Dowgill who defeated three times Yorkshire champion Bob Hitchen. The remaining games are against Leeds (August 16) and Harrogate (September 13).
The Veterans Inter-District team play their last game of the season on Friday against Huddersfield after an up-and-down season.

Saddest news of the week is the death of three well known bowlers including ex-Valley President Geoff Stubbs, the former licensee of the Cross Roads Inn, David Jessop, himself a former star of the Cross Roads club and wily veteran Albert Pye who gained fame at Lund Park. Our condolences go to their family and friends.
