Bingley St Ives player Carol Firth made full use of home advantage to win the Bradford Ladies Championship at St Ives.
It was the third time she had won the title, and was a just reward for her efforts in reviving the event after it was cancelled last year.
Carol said: "It was a great success with 68 entries, and was really only made possible by sponsorship from Re-New Windows of Cleckheaton. It is being held again next year, and a date has already been booked at Shipley Golf Club."
Carol beat Keighley's Adele Mitchell 3 & 2 in the semi-finals and won comfortably 7 & 6 in the final against Val Exley of Shipley.
The nett championship was won by Marjorie Belton of St Ives with a 70, on a countback from Shipley's Mary Higgins. Peggy Burley of St Ives was third with a 71. Carol Firth won the best gross with a 76.
In the matchplay stages Carol beat Judith Booth (Bradford) 9 & 7, Adele Mitchell (Keighley) beat Pauline Luccock (Keighley) 7 & 6, Val Exley (Shipley) beat Linda Ireland (Shipley) 1 up and Sheila Hyde (Bradford) beat Sue White (South Bradford), also 1 up.
Skipton and Silsden took second and third places in the Bradford Junior Team Championship at the weekend.
The Skipton team of A Barran (60), F Picken (68), S Aldersley (71) and N Tywang (75) had a score to count of 199, five behind winners Ben Rhydding. Silsden's N Twigg (67), T Lonsdale (66), J Hall (67) and M Taylor (88) were just one shot behind.
