Christmas is a time for giving. That is something that Shipley-based company Spacekraft clearly understands. Although its profits are generated from the sale of specialist toys and equipment for use by disabled and special-needs children, it has generously donated a substantial collection of them to the Bradford Toy Library, which is threatened with closure.
Director of the company John Kopelciw says the main reason they wanted to help was because, as their core business is special-needs children, it's nice to give something back.
The donation is a splendid gesture which will have given a significant boost to the T&A-backed Save our Play appeal for at least £12,000 to buy equipment and secure the library's future for the next year - a time during which, hopefully, a source of longer-term funding can be identified.
It isn't only Spacekraft who have risen to the occasion. Other companies and many individuals too have responded to the appeal which has raised more than £4,000 in less than a fortnight.
We are always gratified, but rarely surprised, by the generous response of our readers to our various appeals. It is good to know that we only have to present you with a worthy cause and enough of you are prepared to give to send it racing towards its target. We fully expect the Save our Play appeal to be given a Christmas and New Year boost as more people enter into the spirit shown by Spacekraft.
Many thanks, on behalf of the Toy Library's young clients, for all your efforts and generosity so far. And a very Happy Christmas from everyone at the Telegraph & Argus.
