Thackley 1 Borrowash Victoria 1

An injury-time leveller knocked the turkey stuffing out of Thackley as struggling Borrowash Victoria snatched a point from their Northern Counties East Premier Division clash at Dennyfield.

Thackley looked assured of the maximum that their dominance deserved but a late smash-and-grab left them banking a single point.

The Vics will have felt they earned the draw through pure determination.

Thackley assistant manager Paul Atkinson, overseeing from the dugout while manager John Boyle is abroad on a winter break, offered no defence to the visitors' claims.

"We were very disappointed to concede so late because we coped well with everything they had until right at the death," said Atkinson.

"We never had the game wrapped up though, so fair play to them. We were under a bit of pressure in the second half.

"I thought we were the better side in the first half but we only scored just before half-time. If we had broken the deadlock earlier it could have worked out differently, but it's history.

"We got pegged back but there were some positives for us. Ashley Rosindale had probably his best game for the club. His cousin Chris ran the centre of midfield very well.

"Andy Patterson was just behind Ashley and he prospered through having a good forward up there with him, and Aaron Brian had no reactions from the hand injury that has kept him out for the last few games."

It was an unfortunate and uncharacteristic error from big keeper Brian that led to the late equaliser.

Vics substitute Steve Banks made a run that was only ended by a challenge that took the ball into touch.

James Parkinson unleashed his trademark long throw and Brian fumbled at the near post. The ball ran loose in the six-yard box and Matt Freeman lashed it into the roof of the net from close range.

In the first half, Ashley Rosindale, Patterson and Dave Nelson had all gone close before the 43rd-minute strike that gave the home side the lead.

A string of passes released Mark Senior and his through-ball found Danny Ferrand, who ran on before clipping a low cross into the box from which Patterson side-footed home.
