More than 100 historic vehicles took part in the annual Christmas tractor run organised by Aire Valley Vintage Machinery Club

Tractors from across Yorkshire and Lancashire were joined by Jeeps, Land Rovers and a breakdown wagon on Sunday.

The 111 vehicles travelled about 20 miles around remote parts of the Worth Valley taking in Stanbury, Oldfield and Slippery Ford.

The drivers set off from Ingrow, called at the Grouse pub for coffee and mince pies, and finished at the Old Sun Hotel in Haworth for pie and peas.

Organisers expect to raise around £1,200 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, due to sponsorship from Morrisons supermarket and car dealer Colin Appleyard.

The Vintage Machinery Club has hosted tractor runs for the past four years and interest has grown steadily.

Stanley Turner, one of the organisers, said that this time tractors came from as far away as Clitheroe, Gargrave, Bradford and Otley.

He said the tractors -- many more than 50 years old -- had no problems with the winding and hilly route.

Mr Turner added: "We had a good turnout and we were very satisfied. We had 50 tractors the first time and it's got bigger and better every year. There are a few tractor runs down south and in the Lake District, but I think we're getting to be one of the biggest in the country."

Mr Turner organised the run with fellow tractor owners Tim Hanson and Trish Midgley. Mr Turner and Mr Hanson use their old tractors on their smallholdings.
