Silsden, Tyersal and Brighouse Town, the three sides that lead the way at the top of the Mumtaz Premier Division, all increased their championship prospects and added to their opponent's relegation fears.

Tyersal, despite having played two more games than Silsden and four more than Brighouse, kept up the pressure by beating second-to-bottom club Hall Green United 3-0 with goals from Lee Poole, Andy Carlton and Danny Mullarkey.

Brighouse Town made sure that Campion stay only two points above the two relegation places after a goal in each half from Shaun Walsh gave them a 2-0 victory.

A second-half brace from Jimmy Hedges kept Silsden on track with a 3-1 victory at bottom-placed Littletown, Jimmy Spencer having earlier given the Keighley side the lead which Littletown's Danny Scott equalised.

Wibsey failed to build on the 1-0 first-half advantage given to them by Andy McGowan at Hemsworth Miners Welfare and allowed the home side to take all three points.

Scott Collins netted twice in the last 15 minutes to give the Pontefract side a 2-1 win.

Arron Hollindrake's goal rescued a point for Steeton in their 1-1 draw at home to Ovenden West Riding, Ben Halliwell having earlier put the Halifax side ahead.

Following a drab first half, Division One leaders Ardsley Celtic stepped up the pace and with strikes from Richard Hand (2), John Garbutt, David Cateroche and Dave Ward, dented Westwood's promotion ambitions. Second-placed Heckmondwike Town also scored five with Mark Pattison (3), Richard Timlinson and Nasser Padeep finding the mark as they beat Marsden 5-1.

Dudley Hill Rangers were 3-0 down and facing defeat at home to Altofts. Rangers then hit a purple patch and with strikes from Roman Zuric, Floyd Phillips and Ian Walker denied their visitors taking all three points.

A first-half strike from Gareth Carney for Salts was not enough to give his side victory at home to Wakefield City who hit back with a Phil Wood goal to draw 1-1.

Salts Old Boys, despite goals from Paul Kemp and Dave Armstrong, lost their basement battle with Hunsworth, who had Steve Oakes (2) and Mick Wriggles on target to win 3-2.

Farnley moved closer to gaining one of the two promotion spots from Division Two when they beat second- placed Roberttown 9-3.

Keenan Wong and Scott Barlow both netted hat-tricks, Mat Daley (2) and John Dark adding the last three. James Heddon (2) and Jobie Terry scored for Roberttown.

Halifax Irish, in third place, strengthened their bid for promotion after beating Bowling 6-1.

James McKewan helped himself to a hat-trick as South Bradford put seven past Dynamoes.

And following ten successive defeats, Crag Road United surprised visitors Barclays with a 4-1 victory. Dominic Barrett (2), Andy Watmuff and Carl Firth scored for Crag.

Other hat-trick heroes were Mark Raymond, who starred for Morley Town in their 5-2 win at Ventus Yeadon, while Scott Norton netted his three for Rawdon Old Boys away to Westbrook YMCA.

Silsden Reserves moved within striking distance of being the first side in the league to claim a champions spot. Their 4-1 victory at Campion Reserves in Division One Reserves left them looking for just four points to lift the trophy.

l Two sides from the West Riding County Amateur League will join two teams from the West Yorkshire Association, in contesting the semi-finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

Bay Athletic, who beat Oldham-based Springhead 2-1, will meet Sandy Lane in the first game on Friday, March 26, with holders Silsden playing Carlton Athletic the following Friday, April 2. Both games will be played at the County FA ground, Woodlesford, Leeds.
