A photography student is celebrating Bradford's cultural diversity by putting together a cook book.

Dave Marshall, 55, who is in his final year of a photography degree at Bradford College, hopes the venture will raise money for Cancer Support in Bradford, a charity which helped him when he was diagnosed with the

disease.

The former chef is now approaching restaurants and asking for recipes.

He is also appealing to the city's Eastern European communities for recipes s that all ethnic groups can be represented.

"I do not think I will have a problem finding recipes from the Asian community, but I need people from the Polish, Latvian and Russian communities to come forward," he said.

As well as Asian food, the book will feature European food, classic English food and Italian.

"Every recipe will be for four portions and feature the method of cooking and the history of the food," said Mr Marshall. "I want to show the diversity of food in Bradford."

He will photograph all the food himself as part of a project for his degree.

"I would like 50 recipes and it will be an awesome task to photograph them all," he said.

"If someone would be interested in publishing it, all the proceeds will go to Cancer Support."

Mr Marshall was forced to give up work as a chef when cancer of the naso-pharynx, the part of the throat that lies behind the nose, robbed him of his sense of taste.

"I am all right now, but it was a hard thing to get over and Cancer Support helped me," he said. "Now I want to give something back."
