Bradford's tourism chiefs are bracing themselves for a busy Easter and the chance of attracting more visitors than ever before.

They hope to pull in the crowds but admit much depends on the weather.

Last year saw almost 9,000 people pass through the district's tourist information centres during the Easter weekend.

Tricia Tillotson, district manager for the tourist information centres, said: "It is difficult to predict how busy we will be as so much depends on the weather.

"However it is the first main holiday of the tourism season so we are hoping to repeat last Easter's success which was a bumper year for visitors.

"We had 8,777 visitors to our centres in Bradford, Haworth and Ilkley between Good Friday and Easter Tuesday."

An 'eggstravaganza' of events is taking place across the district.

Children can take part in an Easter Trail on Good Friday and Easter Sunday at East Riddlesden Hall. The trail takes place between 12pm and 4pm and costs £1 per child.

On Easter Monday, also at the hall, the Curious Eyebrows circus will be teaching circus skills from juggling to acrobatics. The day culminates in a show for all the family.

The circus workshop takes place between 12pm and 4pm and costs £3.80 for adults and £1.90 for children under 17. Family tickets are available for £9.50 and for more information call (01535) 607075.

It will be full steam ahead at Haworth's Keighley and Worth Valley Railway with steam trains running every day over the Bank Holiday.

A family fun day is being held on Bank Holiday Monday with face painting and children's entertainers and children who bring a teddy bear can ride free on the trains.

Ilkley and Haworth Tourist Information Centres are hosting an Easter egg hunt for children on Easter Monday.

Bradford's Colour Museum is holding three workshops for children, making Easter bunny masks and marbled gift boxes. Entrance for children is £2.50 and adults who accompany children get in free.

The Keighley Bus Museum Trust is holding an open day at its depots in Old Dalton Lane, Keighley and Denholme House Farm.

Free bus services will also be provided between the two depots to celebrate the 30th birthday of the Metro bus company.
