TWO Craven teachers have been honoured in the 2004 Teaching Awards.
Janet Lassey, of Settle Middle School, and Catherine Greenbank, of Threshfield Primary, received special commendations at the North of England ceremony.
Each was presented with a £250 cheque for their schools.
Mrs Lassey, who has taught at the middle school for more than 10 years, received her commendation for excellence in special needs teaching.
She was nominated by headteacher James Mansley.
He told the Herald: "She thoroughly deserves this award. She has done really well and we are very proud of her."
Mrs Lassey is also in charge of the school's 10 teaching assistants
Also commended was Catherine Greenbank, 24, who has been teaching at Threshfield Primary School for just two years.
Her commendation came under the Teacher Training Agency Award for Outstanding New Teacher.
Miss Greenbank teaches a class of 27 pupils aged five to eight at Threshfield. This is her first teaching position.
